Over the last two months I’ve been using a deodorant from Neal’s Yard, a brand which aims to avoid using as many nasty chemicals as possible. I’ve used various products from Neal’s Yard over the years and have always had good results with them. In recent months I’ve been pushing all my spare money into Indiecana so I’ve not been treating myself to many skincare or fashion items. However, when I spotted this deodorant back in September it was on special offer and I really fancied trying it out.
This deodorant doesn’t contain aluminium salts. At first I wasn’t sure what this meant but after a little research I found that aluminium salts (which are in most normal deodorants) block the pores and can also cause skin irritation. There are a lot more concerns with it but I’m not going to go into them because I didn’t come across any scientific information to back up the speculations.
I’m personally trying to improve the food I eat, the products I use and in general, the way I live my life, so if I can avoid using something which may not be good for me then I’ll give it a good shot. I’m not going to be strict, but I am trying to improve.
Something very important to consider when using a deodorant is the scent. This one is very zesty, you can really smell the lemon and it’s very refreshing. Next it’s important to know how long a deodorant is going to last. From my experience it’s lasted well throughout the working day. If you were going onto an evening out you would need to apply it again. I’ve had no reactions or sore skin from from product, it really has been kind to my skin. Finally, I really like the spray pump and find that this offers a much better application than using an aerosol spray or a block.
This bottle was on sale in Waitrose (in September) but the usual price is £8. Much more expensive than a normal bottle of deodorant. However, I’ve been using this for well over two months now and there’s still a lot of the product left, as you can see in the above photos. Will I repurchase this deodorant? Yes, I think this is going to last for a good 5/6 months so I’ll be sure to buy another bottle as it’s worth the money and the supermarkets often have special offers on.
Keep an eye over on Twitter to hear about products I repurchase.
