Last month I was running out of a few beauty bits so I decided to take the opportunity to try some new products. Escentual had been on my radar for a while and after a long evening of work I decided it was time for a browse. I was really pleased with the wide selection of products and they had some good discounts on, always a bonus. I’ve linked everything I purchased but sadly some of the offers have now changed. I narrowed my basked down to 5 items and spent my hard earned cash within a few mouse clicks. I think my order arrived two days later which I was pleased with as I’d made it quite late at night.
This isn’t going to be a review post but more a summary of products I’m enjoying at the moment, a few initial thoughts and to give you an idea what’s out there. I’ve been using these products for well over a month now and I’ll be happy to share full reviews over the next few weeks, if you’re interested.
First up is the Clarins Toning Lotion for normal to dry skin. I use a lot of skincare products from Clarins and they always work well with my skin. I’ve been using this toner after cleansing to get rid of any excess make-up but mostly to freshen up my face. The toner doesn’t dry my skin out and works well to make it feel smooth. As you can imagine, it doesn’t have much more than a fresh scent to it.
Next up is the Eucerin Eye Make-Up Remover. I once used a sample sized cleanser from this brand and loved it but I’ve only just got ’round to trying more products from them. This remover is said to be good for those of us with sensitive skin and I’m pleased to say that I’ve had no bad reactions from it. I’m using it frequently and have found that it removes my various brands of mascara with ease, even the L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara which is truly long-lasting and usually a real pain to remove.
I’d been banging on about getting a new lipliner for ages and whilst browsing the Escentual website I stumbled upon the Dior Contour which is a transparent lipliner. I wasted no time in popping this into my basket. This lipliner will work with any lipstick or lip colour. It helps to line and smooth your lips as well as ensuring a lasting hold. I’ve found that it’s quite moisturising and doesn’t dry out your lips like some lipliners do. I almost forgot! The opposite end of the brush is brilliant, it’s a flat lip brush which allows you to be very precise with application.
Next is the Nuxe Lip balm. I didn’t realise this was such a cult beauty blogger product ’til after I’d purchased it. I personally love this stuff. Seriously, I use it most nights and if I’m suffering from particularly dry lips I chuck it in my handbag. I think it’s going to be one of my top 5 products through the colder months. It has a sweet honey scent to it and is a very very thick consistency.
Finally we’re onto the Clarins Perfect Eyes and Brows Palette. I must apologise for the photo above, but at least you can see that I’ve been using it a lot. I was originally looking for a brow pencil but ended up going with this handy little kit because, well it’s beautiful. The kit contains a built-in mirror, three shades of powder (the middle is my favourite), highlighter, holding wax, mini tweezers, an applicator and an eyebrow brush. So far I’m really enjoying this kit and will get a full review up as soon as I can. I think it would make a fantastic Christmas gift.
