Just before Christmas I was researching small businesses who like to give back. I was delighted to stumble upon the London based company, We Are Tea. They ethically source whole-leaf teas from artisan producers around the world (GMO free). The teas are then hand-packed here in the UK and sent out to customers.
We Are Tea are an ethically focused brand who help the environment by reusing cardboard boxes and they also support the national charity, Contact The Elderly (the main reason for this post). Contact The Elderly focus on tackling loneliness and social isolation among the elderly. They match people with volunteers who take them out for a tea party once a month. The party is hosted at a different volunteers house each month but the drivers always remain the same. This is to encourage friendships to develop while also meeting with a variety of people at each tea party.
We Are Tea specifically created the darjeeling afternoon chari-tea for the guests of Contact The Elderly. All profits from the tea go to Contact the Elderly.
I love finding brands that like to give back where they can. Contact The Elderly are a very important charity and if you want to find out about becoming a volunteer just pop over to the website. Alternatively, you can visit the We Are Tea website and support the cause by treating yourself to some darjeeling afternoon tea. I think that this tea would be a fab gift idea for any tea lover. It’s nice to able to treat a friend, support a charity and raise awareness all in one swoop.
I can confirm that the teas from We Are Tea are fantastic. I’m currently drinking their refreshing moroccan mint green tea and will be sharing a review later in the week.
Have you ever tried any teas from We Are Tea?
