A while back I was introduced to Mary Kay Makeup. I’d never heard of the brand before but after a little research I was very very impressed. One of the things that stands out about Mary Kay is that the brand has a big commitment to social responsibility.
I can’t believe I haven’t come across Mary Kay before. What a fantastic example she has set for women in business. Over 50 years ago Mary Kay Ash founded the company in Dallas, Texas with just 5 products. Her aim was to inspire women to transform their lives and in doing so, help other women achieve success as beauty consultants.
Mary Kay and The Mary Kay Foundation partner each year to survey domestic violence shelters and learn more about what is happening for this important issue. The survey takes an in-depth look at domestic violence through the perspective of executive directors at women’s shelters across the country. Mary kay has donated millions of dollars to causes that change the lives of women and children around the world.
After discovering the history of the company I was delighted to find that the make-up is just as good. I’ve recently been wearing Mary Kay lipsticks and although I have a couple to tell you about I’m going to stick to one for this post.
Naturally Chic is the lipstick that I wore almost everyday during my trip to Berlin earlier this month. It’s part of the City Modern Collection and the shade is perfect for autumn. It’s a deep rose but doesn’t quite fall into the berry category. It’s a very easy colour to wear and can be built up for a stronger look with just a couple of layers.
I can be lazy when it comes to reapplying lipstick so I’m pleased that Naturally Chic lasts well throughout the day. I only need to touch it up in the late afternoon. Yes, that includes after eating and drinking.
This is going to be a firm favourite throughout autumn. I’ll be back soon to tell you more about my Mary Kay favourites.
