Sheffield finally has a Virgin Money Lounge – YAY!
I should have told you about this place ages ago. I’m sorry, really I am. I did tweet about it like crazy though.
Some of you may remember that I lived in Norwich for a while and one of the few things I always missed was the Virgin Money Lounge. But it’s ok now, Sheffield has its own and I’m pretty sure it’s one of the best they’ve got. The Sheffield lounge spans across 3 floors. That’s right, 3 large floors for their customers to enjoy for free.
As soon as you walk into the lounge you’re greeted with friendly staff who swipe your card before you quickly roll on in to grab a coffee. If you’re feeling fancy you can play the beautiful white piano (I’ll snap a photo of it next time to add in), browse the papers or make use of the iPads and free wifi.
If that’s not enough and you fancy a little more excitement then pop downstairs where you’ll find their bowling ally. Yep, that’s right there are 2 bowling alleys, shelves stacked with bowling shoes and of course, lots of colourful bowling balls.
Alongside the bowling madness you’ll find table football, a pool table and my personal favourite, air hockey. Phil and I always pop in for a quick game of air hockey, loser makes the dinner! There are American Diner booth style seats where you can chill out with a cuppa. As if that wasn’t enough you’ll find a little cinema with comfy seats and a kids play area in the shape of a bowling ball.
We’re not done yet.
Fancy something more sophisticated? Make your way back upstairs to the third floor. Alternatively, jump in the lift. The very top floor is like a grand hotel. There are comfy tweed sofas, a majestic chess set, a long table for working and window seats. You’ll find lots of plug sockets around so you can charge your phone or laptop with ease. The shelves are filled with board games and books and there are plenty of newspapers knocking about.
On each floor there is full access to an assortment of teas, coffee, juice, fruit and biscuits.
There are often events held within the lounge too. Pop over to the website to check out what’s going on near you. I’m yet to get to one of them but I’ll be sure to report back when I do.
Honestly, this is probably my favourite place in Sheffield. This post isn’t sponsored, I just sodding love this place.
I’m so glad I bank with Virgin. This place is the perfect escape from the rain (they even let your borrow a brollie), somewhere comfortable to do a little work or a fab place to take your friend for a coffee. I think it’s a good way to bring local communities together and I can’t wait to see how they grow. Now they just need one in Cambridge.
