I just love these hiking inspired boots from River Island. Every time autumn and winter comes around I’m all about boots. My Converse and Vans go to the back of my cupboard and my boots come to the front. I actually find that I often look much smarter during the colder months. I spend more time thinking about my outfits, layering up and then picking out a pair of boots to pull an outfit together.
Whenever I pick out new clothes I’m always mindful. I like to ensure that I’m adding something that will last to my wardrobe. I’m not one for short-term trends, I prefer to pick out colours I’ve always loved and styles I know I’ll wear every year. I’m particularly into shades of burgundy throughout the colder months. So combining boots and burgundy means these jumped right out at me when I was scrolling through River Island’s collection of boots.
There are a lot of hiking inspired boots around at the moment and I’m so happy about it (I have another pair to show you later in the week). They keep my feet comfortable and yet they’re still smart enough to wear with a dress or into the city. I particularly like the colour of these boots. The burgundy and caramel shades really compliment each other and are helpful for when you’re styling them.
I’ve been wearing these boots while I was away in Cambridge throughout December. They also came on a trip to London with me. I can confirm that they’re very comfortable – just look at the sole on them. They’re well made and the thick sole means they’re extra comfortable and support my foot and ankle well. They aren’t the shoe you’d go for if you’re expecting heavy rain or snow, you really wouldn’t want to get these beauties dirty. However, they’re very snuggly and warm for the chilly days we’ve been having recently.
The weather was fairly mild in Cambridge over Christmas so these boots were ideal. I wore them most days and I can see myself using them a lot in the upcoming months.
We snapped these photos just before going out into the city. I decided to team the boots with my For Love and Lemons dress which I got in the sale at the start of 2016. I’ve been really impressed with the quality of this dress and I’ll be keeping my eye on their future sales. I pulled on my grey beret (similar here) and my mum’s caramel jacket from Otto D’ame.
As soon as I spotted these boots on the River Island website I knew I wanted to add them to my wardrobe. I think they have a real Wes Anderson feel to them, does anyone else see that? I’m sure it’s down to the colour combo and the fact that they make me think of Moonrise Kingdom. The boots have quickly become a firm favourite of mine and I can see myself wearing them every A/W. Actually, I must remember to pick up a few shoe care bits to make sure they stay looking clean and new.
Unfortunately I can’t seem to find these exact boots on the River Island website, they sold out real fast. If they come back onto the site I’ll be sure to edit this post and let you know over on Twitter. They do however have a few similar styles which you can see in the box above. I think the grey boots which are now reduced to £20 are really cute and yet practical.
With my 7D, my comfy boots and a backpack I’m all set for lots of adventures in 2017.
