I’ve just discovered that The Big Issue have launched an online shop. I’m sure most of you in the UK will have heard of The Big Issue but if you haven’t and for any overseas readers, it’s a street newspaper which was founded in 1991 by John Bird and Gordon Roddick. It’s one of the UK’s leading social businesses. They offer homeless individuals or people at risk of being homeless the chance to work and earn an income.
Alongside the magazine they have now launched an online shop. They have lots of lovely things stocked on the website including toys, books, homeware, gifts and more. The t-shirts in the shop really caught my eye. You simply pick one to support a world issue; ocean pollution, gentrification, sex workers and climate change. I like the Plastic in our Oceans t-shirt and it’s something I feel strongly about. Artists including Paul Insect, Hayden Says and Mau Mau have been involved in designing the t-shirts and they all look really good.
It’s always nice to be able to support social enterprises where possible. Do check out the website or help to spread the word and find out more with their hashtag – #WEARABIGISSUE.
