We’re currently in the middle of house hunting which as I’m sure many of you know, can be quite a long process. It’s a process I really enjoy and find quite inspiring. I’m always picking up new interior design ideas and adding them onto my Pinterest boards. I do hope we find somewhere soon though.
There are a couple of things I’m really looking forward to incorporating into our new home. One is quality storage solutions. I don’t want to create so much storage that I start hoarding things away, I’m more about the KonMari way of life these days. However, I do want to have space for my photography equipment.
Another thing I’m really looking forward to buying is a new bed. I know it doesn’t sound very exciting but I’ve got to the stage where I think a comfortable bed is very very important. Actually, it was after a recent trip away that I realised how much a comfortable bed can really benefit how well you sleep. I go into phases where I don’t sleep very easily so although I’ve already picked up some new pillows I’m keen to get a bigger bed and a top quality mattress.
I was recently introduced to Crown French Furniture who have a beautiful range of quality French beds. If you’re looking for a new bed then do check out their site, there are some real beauties on there. Crown French Furniture is a family-run business in Nottingham and as I’m sure some of you will know, I love to support indie businesses. Ideally, I’d like to go with an indie business when I finally move and invest in a new bed.
I like to mix styles up and while I’ll always have a clean Scandi vibe to my home I’m also drawn to bringing in little of the rustic French look. I’m also all about white at the moment, I’m not sure if it’s a photography thing or if it’s just a lot darker in this city and I’m craving as much light as possible. But I can’t wait to paint the walls white. Along with that I want to have white, blue or grey furniture, depending on the style of the house.

I’ve pulled together a little wishlist style post to satisfy my interior craving (I can’t wait to decorate a new place) and to hopefully give you a little inspiration. I adore the Beaulieu antique French bed which comes in a lovely white and grey combination. I think it looks very chic while at the same time looking super comfy. Then there’s the Lille Armchair which to me, epitomises the French style, I also love the pastel shade of green that it comes in. This would look lovely in the corner of a bedroom. I was hesitant to add the beautiful Beaulieu cast iron tub to this post, it’s well out of my current budget but it’s one I want to keep note of for the future. It’s such a lovely shade of blue and has the option of coming with white or chrome feet.
Remember, you can bring elements of different styles into your house through smaller items like glassware, mirrors, cushions and lamps. Shop around and find something that suits your budget. I’d also recommend getting to antique shops and car boot sales, you never know what you might find. This dainty vintage oval mirror is something I’ve found over on Etsy. It’s always good to do some research and try to find more unique pieces. It’s really exciting when you come across the best vintage items.
