There are no rules when it comes to blogging.
Okay, there are hints and tips which will increase your reach or optimise your photography. But they aren’t these golden rules that you must abide by. You don’t have to follow them.
To me, this is the beauty of blogging. You can simply do as you please and that’s why many of us started. We created our own little spaces on the internet and it just so happened that other people stumbled upon them.
As the years have gone by blogging has changed and developed into something rather fantastic. Some people blog as a hobby, others blog to learn new skills and many run their blogs as part of a business.
To me you don’t need a standalone website to call yourself a blogger. You can blog on Facebook, Instagram or a multitude of other platforms. You can document your life or you can tell the story of your journey to becoming the best salesperson at the Tesla store. Don’t forget, there are so many blogs out there, you’ll find a niche for everything. Whatever it is, you can do it.
I’ve seen people saying that you shouldn’t call yourself a blogger if X, Y or Z and I don’t think that’s right. As I mentioned before, it’s so important to adapt to the changes within the digital world. If you want to blog within the captions of your Instagram photos then go for it. Actually, I think that’s such a good way to get started. Of course, there’s the argument that’s it’s essential to have your own domain, just in case a social media platform plays a vanishing at like Vine. I totally agree with this but also, I’m all about encouraging people to simply get started with blogging in any way possible.
I believe that anyone can start a blog, especially as it’s free to do. I would hate to think that people are put off from the world of blogging because they can’t afford a domain name or they aren’t the best photographer. Don’t let anyone put you off, just get started.
Blogging is what you make of it.
Blogging is what you want it to be.
People blog for a wide variety of reasons and that’s why it’s so fantastic. That’s what makes the world of blogging exciting and unique. So, if you’re thinking of documenting your life or sharing your story then please just get started. You can make changes and embrace new platforms as you go along.
Just do more. Just get started and most importantly, have fun while you’re at it.
