Keeping your skin hydrated throughout the winter months is very important.
One of the easiest ways to get started with this is by drinking lots of water. It’s not an easy habit to get into but once you’re in the swing of it you’ll really notice the difference. I try to use my Water Bobble and fill it up twice a day. I don’t always make my way through it but at least I’m giving it a go.
Alongside water, aiming to have a healthy diet, getting enough sleep and using a few moisturising products will all work to keep your skin hydrated. I have dry skin throughout the year but the recent snow and cold weather has meant that I’ve found myself taking extra time in the morning and evening to hydrate my skin.
Since the start of the new year I’ve stocked up on some old favourites to incorporate back into my skincare routine. I’ve also grabbed a few new bits from Chemist4U – they stock some fab brands for eczema-prone and dry skin. There are 4 products which have made a big difference to my skin so I thought I’d share them with you today.
I’ve had multiple jars of Nuxe lip balm over the years and it has never let me down. It sorts my chapped lips out overnight. Seriously, within 24 hours it has you feeling hydrated and back to normal. I’m so pleased to have this little jar back in my life as a solid part of my evening skincare routine. I’ve also been using it in the morning while we’ve had extra cold weather.
It’s a very thick and rich product, a little really goes a long way. It has a subtle sweet honey scent to it and leaves a matte finish.
Bioderma Ultra-Nourishing Anti-Irritation Shower Oil
I like to be extra careful with the shower products I use. Many shower gels can be really drying on my skin but I think I’ve finally found something which I’m going to be re=purchasing on a regular basis.
In the photo the oil looks almost solid, this is due to the cold weather at the moment (I was shooting outside in the snow). It’s normally a very oily consistency, as you can probably imagine. I like that the bottle has a handy pump to make dispensing the oil much easier.
It’s a light oil and not at all greasy. I’ve even used this on my face to remove my make-up a couple of times and had no irritations. It leaves my skin feeling smooth and moisturised after my shower. It has a slight fresh scent to it but it’s very subtle.
This shower oil is perfect for anyone with dry and sensitive skin. I haven’t used many products from Bioderma before but now I’ve used this shower oil I’m keen to try out more.
Palmer’s Coconut Oil Body Lotion
Even though I find the Bioderma shower oil very moisturising I still use a body lotion after my shower. I’ll take any chance to give my skin extra hydration.
I’ve been loving the Palmer’s Coconut Oil body lotion. It smells so good and is much thicker than a regular body lotion. I apply it all over my body and it keeps my skin moisturised and hydrated throughout the day. The lovely coconut scent makes me smell like a summer holiday.
With the colder weather I’m currently using it in the morning and evening. I find the lotion soaks into my skin pretty quickly but do keep in mind that it’s a thicker cream so you do have to wait a few minutes before getting dressed.
This tube of Aveeno hand cream lives in my handbag. It has an unusual but subtle scent, I can’t quite put my finger on what it is. A lot people who suffer with eczema seem to love Aveeno products and I’m pleased to have finally tried something from the brand.
It’s not a thick hand cream, much lighter than I’d normally pick. However, it does a really good job of hydrating my hands and keeping them smooth throughout the day. I wasn’t expecting this when I first tried it, I’m used to much thicket hand creams. It’s nice to find a hand cream which is both hydrating and only takes a few seconds to soak into your hands.
I always love hearing about hydrating skincare products so feel free to let me know what you’ve been using in the comment section below.
