Have you heard of Zymurgorium? It’s a craft meadery and distillery based in Manchester. They also produce a fantastic selection of craft beers and ciders.
It was founded by Aaron Darke who discovered his love for brewing back in his university days. He set up Drake Crafts in 2012 and in January 2014 the brand expanded into the world of gin. Since then the gin industry continues to grow each year with pubs and bars now stocking a wide variety of the fantastic juniper spirit we all know and love.
Zymurgorium creates a whole range of delightfully fun flavours; Turkish Delight, Pink Grapefruit, Cherry On Top Bakewell and many more.
Today we’re taking a closer look at Sweet Violet Gin Liqueur.
As you can probably imagine, this is not a gin for purists, but you probably guessed that from the name. I love a classic gin but I’m always keen to try something new and a little more unusual.
This is a gin that tastes JUST like Parma Violet sweets. You know, the classic British sweets from Swizzles.
If you’re a fan of Parma Violets then you’re going to love this gin. It has a violet base but is made with 20 botanicals to balance the flavours. It captures the tastes of Parma Violets perfectly. It isn’t overbearingly sweet and works well with mixers.
I was originally sent a bottle of this from my friends at 31Dover, they treat me well. I’ve since re-purchased it for my mum and stocked up on another bottle for when I can drink again. This gin is a perfect gifting gin. It has the nostalgia of childhood sweets while being truly delicious.
How to use Sweet Violet Gin Liqueur
I love drinking this gin neat. It really doesn’t need anything else with it. However, if you’re in need of a long drink try mixing it with tonic or soda or if you have a sweet tooth, lemonade. You can also use it within cocktails in place of Crème de Violette.
You can really get creative with this gin. How about a Violet Gin Drizzle cake? Keep an eye out here on PGT for a boozy milkshake recipe coming later this week.
