Last weekend Phil took me to Street Food Chef to try out their new breakfast menu. I’ve been plenty of times before but only for burritos at lunch (which are SO good).
Phil had been along to the launch of their breakfast menu a couple of weeks before and insisted that we make a morning trip there together. How could I say no?
Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day and it was particularly nice to find a free morning where we could have a relaxing start to our day.
We strolled down to the Arundel St branch. We must have arrived early because we were the first people through the door.
You can see the new menu above and they still do their breakfast burritos too. You’ll find Chorizo Hash, Chilaquiles, Huevos Rancheros, Pancakes and Veggie/Vegan Hash on the menu. They also do an excellent coffee.
Phil went for his favourite, Chorizo Hash. It’s a dish filled with chorizo balls, fried sweet potatoes, black beans, pinto beans, Monterey Jack cheese, fried egg and fresh chilli.
It’s filled with so much flavour but everything is perfectly balanced. The chorizo balls are divine and have a lovely rich flavour with an excellent firey kick to them.
I went for the Huevos Rancheros. A tortilla with 2 fried eggs, freshly made chipotle sauce, black beans, queso fresco, avocado and fresh chilli.
I really enjoyed this dish. The eggs were perfectly cooked and the black beans had a wonderful flavour to them. I can’t wait to go back again.
Below is a little video I made about our breakfast at Street Food Chef. It was a last minute decision to film but I’m so glad I did.
