The other week Phil and I went for afternoon tea at Patisserie Valerie. Thanks for the voucher L&D!
We went along to our local Sheffield branch on Barker’s Pool for an early afternoon tea. The cafe was busy with people having late brunch, afternoon tea or coffee and cake. I’ve been to this branch a few times for breakfast which they always do really well.
We settled down into a corner and ordered our afternoon tea. We had the option of picking between coffee or tea, we both opted for coffee.
We didn’t have to wait long for our stand of treats to arrive.
The bottom tier was filled with tiny finger sandwiches including cucumber, salmon and egg. I’m not sure why but these delicate little sandwiches with the crusts removed always taste so much better than anything I make at home.
The middle tier was all about classic scones with jam and cream. There were 2 fruit and 2 plain scones. Then the third and final tier was filled with beautiful cakes including carrot, chocolate, Victoria sandwich, chocolate éclairs and more.
Everything was delicious! It was also really nice to spend some time with Phil at the weekend. We often spend our time working so this made a lovely and relaxing change.
