This post is in collaboration with Damart
I’m starting to think about spring, a lot. These grey skies just aren’t cutting it for me. I’m hopeful for warmer days, or even just brighter skies, the chance to wear some new clothes and cut down on winter layers.
I won’t lie, I wouldn’t be upset with some snow in March, we had loads last year.
Aside from a sudden snow fall I’d be quite happy for spring and summer to make an appearance ASAP. It hasn’t been a particularly cold winter but it has been very grey, especially here in Sheffield.
For today’s post I’ve collaborated with Damart. A fab French company founded back in 1953. They have a head office based here in Yorkshire and offer an excellent selection of wide leg trousers. I love discovering a new brand, especially when they have a local link.
In the hope of encouraging clear skies I’ve started to keep an eye out for new wardrobe additions. The start of a new season gives me the chance to mix things up with my wardrobe. It’s all too easy to get stuck in a rut of wearing the same styles of clothes.
This time, I’m thinking comfortable, stylish and easy to wear. For this I’ve taken a little style inspiration from my sister. Her outfits are always well pulled together and she very much has a clear and unique style which I love. She’s all about wide leg trousers at the moment and luckily the shops are full of them.
I always thought that wide leg trousers looked way too casual for me. I normally wear dresses and skirts because I find they suit my style. However, I’m keen to give trousers a try. With the right styling and fabric they can look really smart yet still comfortable.
There are lots of options around from ankle skimming styles to full length. Then there’s beautiful bold patterns as well as block colours. I think teaming these types of trousers with a simple and tighter fitting top really brings the look together. I can’t wait to get creative with my outfits once little baby arrives.
I love bold patterns, polka dots are my favourite. However, I’ll personally be going for block colours and when it comes to picking out a pair of wide leg trousers. They’re easier to style when you’re in a rush and will be much more flattering for my height. Think black, navy, bright pink and red. Those are the types of colours I like to wear throughout the summer. I’m also partial to a splash of pastel.
Let’s quickly touch on shoes. I tend to wear Converse and Vans on a day-to-day basis. I do a lot of walking and they’re the best and most comfortable choice. When it comes to the evening I like to mix things up a bit. I have some lovely heels and sandals which would be a quick and easy way to change up the look of a simple pair of trousers.
Are you a fan of wide leg trousers? If so, I’d love to know how you style them and if you think you’ll be wearing more of them throughout 2019.
